Clivia miniata
Clivia miniata is perennial with dark green, strap-shaped leaves which arise from a fleshy underground stem. These flowering heads are brilliant orange, trumpet-shaped flowers which appear mainly in spring (August to November) but also sporadically at other times of the year. The leaves which are a deep green, shiny leaves are perfect foil for the masses of orange flowers.
Clivia miniata do well if planted in a shady area in a well-composted soil, best under large trees as they are sensitive to sunlight and will burn easy.
They do well in pots, planted in well-drained potting soil which has plenty of compost added. Feed your Clivia with a granular fertiliser such as 3:1:15 and a good layer of organic mulch.
Truly striking plant with its dark green leaves and Orange trumpet-shaped flower, ideally this plant does well in shady garden or containers.
Colour – Orange.
